Sub-lieutenant Jun Katsuyama (73rd Naval Academy graduate) died in Kaiten mission on 24 July. Flight Petty Officer 1st Class Tsutomu Kawajiri died in Kaiten mission on 27 July. Ensign Toyooki Seki (Meiji Gakuin University) died in Kaiten mission on 4 August. Flight Petty Officer 1st Class Masahiro Arakawa (Hosei University) died in Kaiten mission.
Two Kaitens were not launched due to the disorder.


Submarine I-58

Flight Petty Officer 1st Class Hayashi was offered Sake.

Sub-lieutenant Shuji Ban and Flight Petty Officer 1st Class Kazuyuki Komori died in the Kaiten mission on 28 July. Ensign Yoshio Mizui (Kyushu University) and Flight Petty Officer 1st Class Akira Nakai died in the Kaiten mission on 10 August. Flight Petty Officer 1st Class Yoshiaki Hayashi died in the Kaiten mission on 12 August.
One of the Kaitens was not launched due to the disorder.


Submarine I-47


Sub-lieutenant Kato, Ensign Kirisawa and Flight Petty Officers 1st Class Shinkai, Kawamura, Ishiwatari and Hisamoto

The Submarine I-47 headed for the area of sea east of Okinawa but did not have any chance to attack and came back on 11 August.


Submarine I-367

The Submarine I-367 headed for the area between Okinawa and the Ulithi Atoll but did not have any opportunities to attack and came back on 15 August.

Departing Submarine I-363

The Submarine I-363 first headed for the area of sea east of Okinawa but was ordered to move toward the Sea of Japan. On her way up, she was damaged by the enemy's attack (two members of the crew died) and came back on 18 August.
