Goldfish(Ranchu) | ||
Goldfish are familiar to Japanese people with the name of gkingyoh because we have a game called gkingyo-sukuih that involves scooping goldfish at local festivals.They came to Japan from China 500 years ago. One of the top three goldfish breeding places is in Yatomi city in Aichi prefecture. In 1994 the goldfish from Yatomi city were used for a space experiment on the space shuttle. gRanchuh is called the king of goldfish. We got a new kind of goldfish called gRanchuh through developing a better breed of goldfish called gWa-kin(Japanese gold fish)h in the Edo era(about 1700). Their features are dumpy, with a raised lump on their head and no dorsal fin.Ranchu have a beautiful body and scales, and they swim elegantly. |
