Atelier Z 5 string Jazz
After I'd played too long with Fender Japan '75 reissue, I decided to get
another ash body active Jazz with heavy ash body. This Atelier Z is a Japanese
make, which has been getting very good reputation from those who look for
Marcus-or-Will-Lee-ish, aka Sadowsky-ish, tone. Atelier Z basses are priced
at two fifths of Sadowsky's price in Japan --- that's the reason for this
reputation.
This bass is my main 5 string bass lately. Good slap tone for funk,
though the lo-B is a little bit sloppy and boomy sounding compared to Tobias.
XTCT is installed, and controlls are two volumes plus hi and lo. Lo
knob acts as a circuit bypass switch.
