The earlier version of Datsun SR roadster is modeled. Each model car is contained in a plastic case and it looks unprecedentedly perfect as the cockpit is so real. The color is available in red, silver or white. It is worthy of special mention that the base model comes in soft-top lifted up with a package containing parts for hardtop and soft-top down. The suggested retail price is 3400 Japanese Yen. The second series will be released in this summer.
The 1960s was the beginning of the full scale 'Motorization Age' in Japan and many cars marked by their strong individualities were manufactured in that decade. I think that many automobile enthusiasts in Japan first become interested in cars in this decade and then develop their interest further. These enthusiasts have not been blessed with good model cars in this decades. This situation of not having model cars of the important decade have continued in Japan where many model car manufacturers have fierce competition each other.
To effect development in this situation, it is a new die-cast manufacturer which initiated last year, "EBBRO KID BOX", to stand up. The EBBRO would manufacture model cars, particularly of Japanese cars in 1960 and 1970. First of the historic car series is the Datsun Roadster SR-311 (Fairlady 2000). I think you can understand my feeling of picking up SR-311 as the first product. The car was in the highest level of performance in the contemporary Japanese cars and also in the world cars, with its maximum speed of 205 km/h and 15.4 sec of a quarter mile acceleration. Our plan is to release the racing version of Datsun Roadsters around the end of July this year -- the Datsun Roadster 2000 which is the GT-class victory car driven by Kunimitsu Takahashi at the third Japan Grand Prix and Datsun Roadster 1500 driven by Bob Sharp at the SCCA race. The EBBRO, which has started not long time ago, would like to continue manufacturing model cars which you remember for a long time. Makoto Kiya
