Toshiyuki Shibata
A boss
over "miso" and soy sauce in the Asian Continent, always with great
loyalty.
I played with him a lot at Middle School. It was he who made me a
cheerful person.
Unlike these days, not
everyone went on to Middle School (under the prewar system), the
current high school.
(In 1940, 25% of junior high school students went on to higher stage
of education)
He, Sub-lieutenant Kawai's classmate at Seisho Middle School went on
to Accounting Department of Manchurian Military School.
(Sub-lieutenant Kawai had been absent from school for one year
because of illness. Shibata was one year younger than him.)
("Miso" is fermented
soy-bean paste. Calling him a "boss" is because accounting officer
was in charge of food control.)
